A practical guide to understanding and using the Program Impact Management System.

The Program Impact Management System (PIMS) helps facilitators, educators, coaches, workforce professionals, and other program leaders support people as they develop the skills they need to thrive personally and professionally.

PIMS brings together the people, learning activities, assessments, and information needed to manage structured development experiences. It can support programs focused on career readiness and employability, well-being and personal development, emotional intelligence and social-emotional skills, communication and collaboration, and industry-specific human skills for fields such as Hospitality and Healthcare.

Whether you are considering PIMS for your organization or are already using it, this guide will help you understand how the system works, how its main parts fit together, what each role is responsible for, and where to find more detailed guidance.

How PIMS Supports Facilitators and Participants

PIMS is designed for organizations and facilitators who help people build personal, interpersonal, and workplace capabilities.

It provides a structured way to organize development activities, assign learning and assessment experiences, monitor participation and progress, and better understand the impact of a Program or Course.

PIMS can support development in areas such as:

  • Career Readiness and Employability

  • Well-being and Personal Development

  • Emotional Intelligence and Social-Emotional Skills

  • Communication, Collaboration, and other Human Skills

  • Industry-Specific Human Skills for Hospitality and Healthcare

Depending on the Program, Participants may complete assessments, online courses, coaching activities, and other learning experiences.

These Activities can help Participants better understand themselves and others, build confidence, strengthen workplace capabilities, prepare for employment or advancement, and improve their ability to thrive in work and life.

For facilitators, PIMS provides a clearer view of what Participants have been asked to complete, what progress they are making, and where additional support may be useful. For organizations, it provides a more consistent way to manage Programs and Courses and to collect information that can help demonstrate participation, progress, and impact.

What PIMS Helps You Manage

PIMS brings the key elements of program delivery together in one system.

Organizations can use PIMS to:

  • create and manage Programs;

  • create Courses within those Programs;

  • organize Participants into Cohorts;

  • assign assessments, online courses, and impact surveys;

  • monitor Participant progress;

  • support Coaches and Program Leaders;

  • provide Participants with access to assigned Activities and available assessment reports; and

  • measure changes that may result from participation in a Program or Course.

The system is designed so that people see and manage the information appropriate to their responsibilities.

  • Program Administrators oversee how PIMS is used within their organization.

  • Program Leaders manage the Courses for which they are responsible.

  • Coaches support Participants and use available information to provide more informed guidance.

  • Participants complete assigned Activities, monitor their progress, and access available assessment reports.

Understanding these roles is important because PIMS is designed around shared responsibility. Different users contribute to the same development experience, but each person interacts with the system differently.

A Simple Way to Get Started
