Foundation for Talent Transformation Helps OCYC Leaders Prepare Young Adults to Thrive
Updated: 5 days ago
MIAMI, FL —September 16, 2026—The Foundation for Talent Transformation joined the Overtown Children & Youth Coalition (OCYC), community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and youth development professionals for an interactive workshop exploring how communities can prepare young adults to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

The two-hour Collective Impact Workshop, “Preparing Young Adults to Thrive in a Rapidly Changing World,” examined how changes in technology, work, communication, family life, and social interaction are affecting young adults’ confidence, career readiness, relationships, and workplace behaviors.
Participants considered whether the young adults they serve are prepared for their future and discussed the skills people need to succeed personally and professionally. These included adaptability, self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, learning agility, responsible decision-making, empathy, communication, courage, and confidence.
The workshop also explored why meaningful conversation has become more difficult. Digital communication, fewer face-to-face interactions, fear of judgment, and limited opportunities to practice difficult conversations can leave young adults less prepared to express their ideas, listen to others, manage disagreement, and ask for help.
Through audience polling, partner conversations, table discussions, and interactive exercises, participants examined the differences between personality traits, developable skills, and observable behaviors. They also considered how young adults can follow different developmental pathways while working toward shared capabilities.
“Young adults are being asked to make important decisions about education, work, relationships, and their future while the world around them continues to change,” said Eric Shepherd, executive director of the Foundation for Talent Transformation. “The organizations serving them already provide trusted relationships and essential support. Our goal is to complement that work with practical tools that help young adults understand themselves, communicate with confidence, and prepare for what comes next.”
The Foundation introduced free resources that youth-serving organizations can incorporate into their existing programs. These include professionally developed self-assessments, self-paced online courses, and AI-powered coaches that help individuals strengthen self-awareness, emotional intelligence, communication, career readiness, and other skills needed for lifelong success.
Organizations can also explore the Foundation’s Program Impact Management System, known as PIMS, to organize learning activities, manage participation, and measure program outcomes.
