Bresee Foundation and Foundation for Talent Transformation Bring Self-Discovery and Career Readiness Workshop to The Clubhouse Network’s Annual Conference
Interactive event will support youth-serving professionals across the global organization,
the Clubhouse Network.

ATLANTA, GA — November 2, 2026 — The Bresee Foundation and Foundation for Talent Transformation will present an interactive workshop at The Clubhouse Network’s Annual Conference in Atlanta on November 1, 2026. Founded in 1993 in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Media Lab, The Clubhouse Network helps young people explore their interests, develop skills, and build confidence through creative uses of technology.

The workshop will contribute to that mission by showing educators, mentors, and youth-development professionals how to connect self-discovery with career exploration and meaningful next steps.
The presentation, “From Self-Discovery to Career Direction: Helping Youth Turn Who They Are into Where They Are Going,” will feature Alex Mayugba, Bresee’s Director of Education & Career Development; Serjio Acevedo, Workforce Development Coordinator at Bresee Foundation; and Eric Shepherd, Executive Director of the Foundation for Talent Transformation.
Young people often face questions about their future before they have had opportunities to explore their interests, values, and strengths. The session will demonstrate how self-assessment and supportive conversations can help them develop a clearer sense of who they are and where they could thrive.
“Understanding yourself is an important starting point for finding work you enjoy,” said Shepherd. “Young people also need supportive conversations, exposure to possibilities, and opportunities to try things. We’re pleased to contribute to The Clubhouse Network’s community by helping the adults supporting them turn self-discovery into meaningful next steps.”
The session introduces an Assess, Reflect, Connect, Act cycle that participants can incorporate into existing mentoring, career exploration, internship preparation, and Clubhouse activities:
Assess: Explore interests, values, strengths, and areas for development.
Reflect: Discuss what the results mean and how they relate to personal experiences.
Connect: Identify people, education pathways, and opportunities worth exploring.
Act: Take a manageable step, learn from the experience, and continue exploring.
This approach complements The Clubhouse Network’s learning model, which emphasizes learning through designing, following personal interests, building community, and developing relationships grounded in respect and trust.
Bresee’s presenters will share how its Career Pathways Program incorporated self-assessment into existing activities, giving young people language to describe themselves and helping staff facilitate career conversations. The approach encourages exploration while respecting each young person’s ownership of their choices.
Attendees will experience the Foundation’s Career Interests Quiz, reflect on their results, and collaborate in table discussions. They will also design a 30-day experiment they can introduce at their own sites without creating a new program or requiring significant funding.
The Foundation offers free self-assessments, online courses, and AI coaching to support personal growth and career readiness. These resources help youth-serving organizations build opportunities for self-discovery into the work they already do.
